Title: The wonders of BT
Post by: old Bill on Sep 04, 2007, 12:41:34
Have not been around here for a while. But I thought I would give a quick update. I have still been having problems with my broadband so they were called out again today. Before BT vist sync speed 4096KBPS and a line attenuation of 48.9. The BT chap came and put me on to a brand new cable in the exchange (no 5 I think he said) now I am getting this.

DSL Line (Wire Pair):   Line 1 (inner pair)
Protocol:   G.DMT Annex A
Downstream Rate:   6432 kbps
Upstream Rate:   448 kbps
Channel:   Interleaved
Current Noise Margin:   9.0 dB (Downstream) 23.0 dB (Upstream)
Current Attenuation:   42.5 dB (Downstream) 27.0 dB (Upstream)
Current Output Power:   19.7 dBm (Downstream) 11.9 dBm (Upstream)
DSLAM Vendor Information:   Country: {0x0F} Vendor: {ALCB} Specific: {0x00}
PVC Info:   0/38

So at last a decent line  :). There is hope for all of you with poor lines

Trouble is, Bill, I think I'd need a few flying pigs before BT would put in new backhaul here.  :'( Congratulations on your result, though. :)

Not sure at the moment. Both ISPs are great so its a very hard choice. I will see how things are once the min term is up.

Not to be confused with the Fast4 forum, where you're likely to be very very slow...

I think it would be extremely usefull if Bill let on how to get BT to keep visiting, and performing, without paying £160 a time??

Or did he??  :o

No I did not pay them. I was very lucky the chap had come out a couple of months ago and changed my cable with next doors who did not have broadband. So as he said the only other thing to try was a new cable. Anyway its working a treat no loss of sync, no DSL retrains. Just how it should be. :)

Now for the big test. Have just requested that Interleaving is turned off. Hope the new line holds up as well. So far it has been fault free. (TOUCH WOOD KEEPING EVERYTHING CROSSED )
