Title: Apple's iOS 26
Post by: zappaDPJ on Sep 18, 2025, 15:40:40
It's horrible!

As long as I can still do what I want in the way that I've always done it, I've never been that bothered about visual design but Apple's new 'liquid glass' interface is just awful :bawl:

I'm glad I stuck with Samsung.   :)

A quick google suggests opinions are somewhere between mixed and divisive... especially as you can't turn it off (although it can be turned down a bit). It's computationally heavy too, aka a battery muncher, not an Apple strong point at the best of times  :(

My phone is getting on a bit (iPhone 12) so I usually wait until (at least) the xx.1 release1 of new OS's... don't think I'll change  ;)

1 Or untilI get I fed up with the nagging!

Android 16 (September security update) brought a different interface (Material Design 3 Expressive) to many Android phones this month.

I've had the Sept security update but I've not noticed any interface changes on my Samsung S22+.  Maybe that only applies to newer models?

I've never noticed anything to worry about with all my Apple devices in the past but this time the battery drain is quite alarming.

It's Android 16, and probably only applies to Pixels so far.
