Title: Unwanted texts on landline
Post by: peasblossom on Apr 01, 2020, 08:24:28
I got a rash of these yesterday from 0845 6021111 which is a BT number. On their website there is method for blocking them entirely [see below] but does anyone know if, other than blacklisting the number on my phone, I can do the same thing with my IDNet phone package? (I'm going to try that BT option in a bit on the basis that it won't hurt to, so I may report back.)

(These are irritating because you are never left a message. It's just a number that rings and then rings off so you never have a clue who it is that was trying to contact you.)

BT method: Ring 0800 587 5252 and pick the last option. This stops all sms text to speech. We'll see if it works. If it does, I'll have answered my own question but if not ...

That number is a well known BT scam line so you can block it with importunity.

However, just blocking it (which for my phone means the phone won't ring when that number tries to ring my number) doesn't stop it. Calling the number BT suggest does seem to have stopped it calling completely, though.  :)
