Title: Outlook 365 problem
Post by: Den on Apr 28, 2018, 22:03:20
I have multiple email address' all using Outlook 365.

On one of them using a BT email address the items in the trash folder disappear when I empty the folder but very often reappear later.

This seems to be happening more and more over the last couple of weeks and only with this email address even though I have more than one BT email address and never happens using my idnet address.

Is the BT email address on an IMAP setup?

Den, it's BT mail.  I have the misfortune of using them myself and all sorts of weird things have been happening these past few months with folders disappearing, being unable to send e-mails, address book vanishing, not recognising my password or simply not working at all.  Don't waste any more of your valuable time trying to get to the bottom of it and just accept that anything to do with BT is cr@p.

I have 3 BT email address' and apart from this problem with Outlook 365 they all work fine and I have NEVER had a problem with BT or their emails.

If I delete them within Mailbird they stay deleted so it's only with Outlook.  :dunno:

Maybe Outlook isn't syncing with the Trash folder via IMAP?  So, you're deleting the emails locally, but they're staying on the server.

;D. Another amusing problem I get is e-mails dated from 1971 which cannot be deleted.  Again, this is not an uncommon event.

What outlook client version are you using (Outlook 2013 or 2016), if you are paying the subscription for Office 365 it'll probably be 2016.

It might be a good idea to login via BT's web client and see what's going on because if it's reappearing in there it'll be picked up by the client when it synchronises and is something you'll need to chase with BT as it's server side.
