Title: Interesting Ofcom proposal
Post by: mervl on Feb 28, 2017, 10:02:11
Not strictly internet or broadband , but here goes! Ofcom according to ISPReview have revisited the vexed subject of landline rentals, proposing to impose a £5-7 reduction on BTConsumer's standalone charge (even if you take broadband from another provider). Strictly it doesn't affect bundles, but for those of us with line rental, a separate charge, from IDNet, it'd certainly make them uncompetitive.  :slap:

It makes me wonder if the logic (at least) is leading back to all landline contracts being taken directly from BTConsumer, who would then have the responsibility to deal with line faults (and SFIs) directly with the end-user rather than through the ISP middlemen. It'd mess up a few business models!

The same thoughts occurred to me when I read it.

Should we now all be thinking of abandoning the internet?   :dunno:
