Title: Home Page Helper
Post by: Clive on Apr 19, 2016, 19:04:48
A friend of mine called over on Sunday afternoon armed with her laptop which had lost the ability to launch Chrome.  The only browser she could use on her Win 8.1 machine was IE which launched Bing.  If I tried to search for Google it refused to look for it stating it was not allowed.  A scan with Malwarebytes revealed a cute piece of malware called Home Page Helper which it removed.  I was then able to make Google her home page again but even after removing and re-installing Chrome, it won't work.  My friend has gone away very happy at getting Google restored but it would be nice to restore Chrome which she really likes.

That's interesting.  I only ran MWB once since she had been with us for three hours and had to go elsewhere.  Next time she visits I'll refer back to your article.   :thumb:
