Title: Suprise suprise...
Post by: Technical Ben on Aug 28, 2015, 08:10:40
One of my BT (Yahoo) accounts just got hacked.
Online portal shows some emails being sent at 6 in the morning, that were not for me.

Why am I not surprised BT and Yahoo lost the details? (Don't suspect this PC etc, as no other problems with other accounts).

You're not the only one with a BT/Yahoo account that's been compromised. There are many many others in the same situation.

Mine was a couple of weeks ago as was reported on this forum.  But as far as I know, only two people received e-mails from my account.

As I don't use the portal, I'd assume they don't get my friends email addresses (with the exception of replies). All the emails sent show as "failed" and seem to have bounced back thankfully. The account's not used to email friends, just for work/registering on sites. I doubt it's a password cross contamination, as it used an long standing pass I never used anywhere else.

So hopefully it's ok.

Though I should probably aim for a bigger password from now on.
