Title: Web Hosting
Post by: daveygravey on Aug 03, 2007, 13:14:00
Hi Guys,

I'm looking to buy some web space for personal use. I've dealt with a number of cheap webhosts in the past, and they've all been pretty cr*p... surely there must be a good, reasonably priced web host out there!?

If any of you guys could give me some recommendations based on experience that'd be great! any help would be much appreciated :)

Thanks

Dave P

Hmmm maybe this should be moved to 'General Computer Discussion' - my apologies

Have you looked at 1&1, Dave. Don't go in for webspace, so I have no idea what they're like, but the email hosting has been OK in the main, though they did have a bad couple of weeks at the beginning of the year.

Cheers Lance :)

Hey Rik, I've just been reading about 1&1 'n they seem to get good press - I might take a punt on these...

I kinda think in this price range all of these companies are much of a much-ness... managed hosting is where it's at, but it costs a fortune! :)

It would be worth asking over on ThinkBroadband, Dave as they have a board dedicated to hosting.

I've used www.siteground.com for the past 18 months, I'm just about to renew for a further year if that tells you anything.

Heres a few.

http://www.heartinternet.com/
http://www.web-mania.com/
http://www.unitedhosting.co.uk

We use 1and1.co.uk at work.

If you got deep pockets then you could also use our other host. rackspace :P

haha, rackspace is totally out of the question, we have a client @ work who use them... 6k a year is slightly out of my price range ;)

I think I'm gonna plump for 1&1 - I'll let you guys know how it goes... cheers for all of your input! :)
