Title: Windows 7 update blocked
Post by: tehidyman on Aug 19, 2015, 13:32:05
I have an essential programme which needs windows 7 in my preferred configuration.  I regularly update Win 7. Today it showed me the important updates I needed but also included - on a different page Win 10 upgrade. I have removed KB3035583 and hidden it from the list of upgrades but the Win 10 window still appears. If I click OK on the list of upgrades I want to install, it displays the update to Win 10 page and if I then ask to see other updates I get the list , click OK and back to Win 10 download. On line searches have not been useful at this stage. I have resarted computer after uninstalling the KB3035583 .Can anyone suggest a way round?

As a last resort you could upgrade to 10 and then revert to 7, as per guidance here (http://www.howtogeek.com/220723/how-to-uninstall-windows-10-and-downgrade-to-windows-7-or-8.1/).

Thanks for the suggestion. However system restore combined with hiding the update that started the problen has worked.

I will say it does seem to run smoother than 7, does that make me a bad person?

I liked 7, I loved 8.1 and I must admit 10 is so smooth and quick I think I'm going to love it. But so far I have not found anything not to like.  :D Yesterday I was working for this lady and she was having a problem with her desktop running 7, so I helped her with the problem and I then realised how much better 10 is as I have not used 7 for a couple of years.
