Title: Outlook 2007 suddenly stopped working
Post by: krysia on Aug 01, 2015, 17:26:04
Anyone else having trouble with Outlook 2007?   It worked fine one day and then the next kept crashing when we tried to open it. A repair didn't work, so I uninstalled and re-installed Office, after which Outlook worked okay for a few hours - surprisingly, all our accounts were still there after the re-installation - but then it developed the same problem.  We still use Windows XP - I tried to copy the error report to post here but couldn't, so I can't give technical details about what is happening: Outlook opens, starts loading messages, but then closes itself due to an 'unforeseen error' once it gets around the 81% mark.

Try running a CHKDSK on the drive, it may correct some errors on the drive

From a CMD prompt type without the quotes  "CHKDSK /f /r" then the enter key, reboot the PC and let it complete the scan, it could take an hour two to run.

Hi Glenn, and thanks for that.  I ran the CHKDSK yesterday evening, but Outlook still wouldn't open afterwards.  Today when I turned on the computer, however, it did.  Fingers crossed that's solved it.

It didn't - Outlook crashed again while I was away from the computer.
