Hi,
I am getting FTTP from IDNET and was wondering if the above will work? If not can anyone advise on a good replacement?

The two wire is old and a bit tired, if you are having FTTP you need a much more powerful router, look at the latest Asus range (not RT-AC-87U) or something like a Netgear R7000 you need a router with a wan port and the 2700 doesn't have one from memory.
The 2wire 2700 was upgraded to 2701 with a WAN port - some or the early upgrades may have been labelled 2700 so check for a "Fibre port". If it has one, then it will run fine, I have a 2701 running on an 80/20 service and it is in use 18 hours/day.
If it is a basic 2700 though, don't get rid of it, you can always use it as an additional Wireless Access Point (WAP) if yo require one.

The OP said HVG2700 not HGV 2701 but good to know. The 2701 uses weird a Philips TriMedia processor which I believe is single core but allows very long instruction word. Considering that router was around in 2011/2012 and is no longer supported as far as I'm aware I would personally go with something more modern that has better Wan to Lan speeds.
I had a look at one of the devices last night and it is marked 2700HGV-C and it does actually have a WAN/Fibre port. It was originally supplied in the very early days of BT Infinity - so there are a few anomalies.
Why does he need a faster WAN to LAN speed? With a max of 80Mbps, at that level over 100Mbps is not required.
Yes, it might be old, however they are extremely robust and I would certainly use that in preference to a lot of the routers ISPs provide at present.
