Title: Temporary package upgrade
Post by: mk1 on Oct 11, 2014, 11:15:45
Hello,

Does anyone know if it is possible to temporarily upgrade my download allowance for a month? Also as this month has already started would it increase this months allowance? I'm an 90gb of 100 already!

Thanks

I think you'd probably be best to email or call IDNet on this.  I believe you can upgrade for a temporary period, and I think this could be done fairly instantly, but I'm not sure whether there would be any charges incurred.  I suspect not, as it would only be a package change.

If you go over your allowance they just charge you a nominal amount per Gb.  Nothing to be afraid of.   ;)

Yes I know that but it's £1 per GB! Only 10GB and I would be charged the same as the 200GB allowance for the month! I've sent an email to support@idnet and awaiting an response, just noticed zen charge the same but for double that allowance than idnet! (Pro vs active).

I'd be surprised if you get a reply before Monday morning.  IDNet have said there will be new packages announced 'in the Autumn', but we have no idea what these will be.

To be fair, they said Autumn.  They didn't say the first day, the first week, or even the first month of Autumn.  Just Autumn.

I think I get 25GB allowance, I don't really use more than 5GB each month. Though in the past I have gone over a bit and just got emails about it. I don't remember actually being charged for it though.  I never got the impression IDnet would start slapping on fees for going a bit over now and then ?

They also said there would be new packages earlier in the year year too, Simon.... it just seems a long time coming. Or this year has raced past which is entirely possible.

I don't remember any talk of package updates earlier in the year (but that doesn't mean there wasn't).

I think it was mentioned in a email I had, Simon. I'm sure it was mentioned on forum at some point but my mind plays tricks these days  :dunno:

Sorted out allowance up to 200gb. I'm a little surprised it doesn't auto up te package given 10gb over the pro allowance costs the same as the pro-plus allowance which gives 100gb more! No mention of any proposed package changes.
