Hello,
I had fiber optics installed last week and since then, even with a proper speed browsing is very slow - with both Mozilla and IE9. The rest is fine, I can upload or download at a fast speed but browsing has become a nightmare. I've made no change to my PC and I have the same problem on my 2 desktops. no problem with the laptop so far. Does someone have an explanation to this strange behaviour?
Thanks a lot!
When you say browsing, do you mean your system is slow to find a site or the pages themselves are loading slowly?
The pages themselves are loading slowly.
For what it's worth, my son uses Sky fibre in London and I don't see web browsing to be any faster either.
What result do you get from BT Speedtest and the additional diagnostics?
The BT speedtest shows I'm getting 30Mb/s on Sky fibre but that enhanced speed makes no difference to the loading of my usual websites. When I upgraded from ADSL to ADSL2+ the speed doubled but it made no difference to browsing.
The BT test shows normal results. Tonight, I was left without a connection at all, I'm using an O2 dongle. The laptop that is close to the router works fine but my desktop that is upstairs has connection issues. I guess it's a wifi problem. What do you think?
Could be, what does the signal strength say in Windows when you look at your Wi-Fi connection?
I ran some tests and it seems to come from the wireless adapter I'm using - that would explain why the laptop works fine. I'm still using the wireless adapter I used with my old ADSL router. Let me know what you think. Thanks to all of you!
