Can anyone confirm what information is required about the referring person when another person is signing-up? I believe that the name and email address is required but that is being disputed elsewhere.
That's what I understood to be the case, Noreen. I've never been part of a referral, but hopefully someone who has will post shortly. What's being said elsewhere?
I have just used my user ID and e mail address.
IDNet can locate me by them.

It is being stated elsewhere that IDNet requires the USERNAME of the referrer. This is being used as a negative point against IDNet.

They obviously don't understand the ethos of IDNet, it is run my reasonable human beings, as long as the referrer can be identified, there shouldn't be a problem.
I wouldn't worry too much Noreen, if they don't want to come here, it is their loss. ;)

Quite how it can be held as a point against IDNet, I'm not sure. Are companies not allowed to change what information is required??? lol
I suppose people may feel that having to quote a username was poor security? It's the only thing I can think of...
To clarify (I hope), I recently gave my name/email addy to someone and it was refused.
Username was then requested, and worked.

Rik, you're right in your answer, people don't like the idea of giving other people their username. Anyway I recently referred someone, gave them my name and email address and haven't heard that it was refused. I've been telling people that the info about having to use the username is incorrect so I hope that's right because that's certainly how I interpret the official announcement that I quoted (hadn't seen the later one).
I'll ask Simon to take a look at this thread when he's about, Noreen. My own view is that they need something to identify the referrer, name, email address and username would do it, any two of those would be enough.

I don't think that the people on the other forum are really too bothered about the referral aspect, only the idea of giving a username to someone else. BTW how do you know if you have qualified for the referral credit, is it when you see your next invoice?
My original one was just credited to my account, which is accessible from the IDNet portal.
A name is usually enough but if we have more than one customer with that name then some other piece of information would be needed. A username is easy because it is unique to our system. I can't see a security risk as a username is useless without the password (which can be changed if you think it might have been compromised).
And surely you would trust your "friend" not to disclose your username to anyone other than IDNet.....
