Title: Web site test
Post by: lozcart on Feb 26, 2014, 17:18:19
I wonder if some of you could test this web site for me please.

It will load at work and on my phone via 3G but I can't get it to load when using my IDnet connection.

Many thanks

Nope- Safari can't find the server, ping returns Unknown host.

Sounds like DNS.

Support have suggested to reboot my router which I have done but it still doesn't load. They say their DNS servers find the site ok, could others please check and advise, many thanks.

I've changed my DNS to Googles and the site works fine, returned them back to IDnets and it hangs again, Simon at IDnet is looking into it.

Thanks all for testing.

Simon says it loads fine at IDnet towers using a PC, he is going to check on a Mac.

It's strange that IDnet are saying their DNS servers are finding the site and they can load it, it seems anyone external to IDnet and using there DNS can't get the site to load?

Looks like you'll have to borrow their PC!

Put the DNS back to IDNet, then via wireless try on a portable device if you have one, ideally a phone or tablet, does it work then?

Flushing the DNS cache on the PC is worth a try.

The DNS settings are now back to IDnets, I've tried with three Macs and an iPad and iPhone with no joy. On the phone as soon as I turn off the wifi the page loads through 3G. On the Macs I've tried both Safari and Firefox.

Works for me using OpenDNS but doesn't work with Idnet DNS.

Thanks Ray, I've heard from Brian and the name server which handles the DNS for the site is on a blacklist, they have done some tweaks and it should now be ok.

I can't check as I'm at work but will try later.

I can confirm it's now working from an IDNet connection using their DNS servers
