Such a nagging nuisance (even with every privacy setting I could find turned on) that I've got rid of it. Is it anything apart from a marketing app?

Me too, Merv.  I only use Facebook out of necessity, for a couple of groups I'm involved with, and the app was just a PITA.  It also took up valuable storage space on my phone, so it had to go.
