Hi all ive been with IDNet for just under a year on Home Max,ive just done a speed test & it seems a little slow...can you take a look & let me know.
http://www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk/results.php?t=1184857785&v=1869618
Just checked on BT aswell:
BT Speed test results
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 7150 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 8128 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 6347 kbps
seems better
Hi Ian
It sounds like congestion on the speed test server. Try again in the early morning, see what is happening then. You should be able to get an improvement in throughput on that profile. If the figures don't pick up when it's quiet, it might be worth tweaking MTU & RWIN, if you haven't already.
cheers Rik
from what I remember about the Max implementation by BT, you can only really *expect* 2Mb/s and anything over that upto your BRAS profile is a bonus. With little congestion and at quiet times you should go quite fast. As IDnet state that they have "...no network contention, no port blocking, no traffic shaping and no bandwidth throttling...", a slow speed indicates either the local exchange/BT bit is slow or the sites or routes to the sites you are viewing are slow.I usually vary between 3Mb/s and 6Mb/s depending on time of day (sync at 8128/448).
