Title: Windows 7 Backup Fail
Post by: Broadback on Sep 15, 2013, 09:34:34
I have a 3 TB disk which fails when attempting a Windows Backup. The failure message is "the last backup did not complete successfully". More information states " One of your backup files could not be created. Details: The request could not be performed because of an I/O  device error." Show details reads: "Backup time: 15/09/2013 09:23  Backup Location: Seagate Backup Plus Drive (I:)  Error Code: 0x8078002A."
I have attempted this a number of times with the same error. I re-formatted the disk (a stupid idea perhaps, it took over 24 hours) there were no problems it seems.
Any suggestions as to what the problem may be?

This may be the issue - http://superuser.com/questions/491922/windows-7-backup-to-3tb-seagate-external-drive-got-0x8078002a-error  although I'm not a Windows user so it's something I've not come across but it does sound plausible. There is no solution showing there apart from using backup software that supports 4K sectors.

Thanks Steve, that exactly describes my problem. I now know my drive is not faulty. Cheers.
