Title: Xbox 360 help and questions...
Post by: netn00b on Sep 01, 2013, 18:28:48
Ok, considering getting one of these for my son as he keeps playing it at his mothers and i get him asking about it a lot ! plus next door to where i live he is friends with a lad who has one and he always wants to go over there to play something called sky landers....

never owned an xbox, dont know anything about them. always been a pc gamer !

so can anyone give me a quick idiots guide to what should i look to buy.....are all x box's equal ?  are there options i need to be aware of ?

i assume it can connect to the internet ?  does it have to connect to the internet or i am assuming you can play games standalone still in this day and age !! ??

i also understand it has a motion sensor thingy (like a wii?) called kinnect - good ? worth buying ?  good games etc for it ?

I know a new X box is out soon but i am sure we wont need it for him....he's only nearly 6.  Plus it will no doubt cost an arm and a leg as its new generation etc !

Thanks a lot.

The 360 is about to be replaced by the Xbox One so I'd hang fire for now as you could be buying something that is obsolete in two years as the machine was launched back in 2005.

Here is some details about the bundles available if you really do want to buy one

They either bundle games or you can ones with different size hard disks

still looking and trying to work out what to get as seem to be various different ones ?

(decided its gotta be the current xbox 360 - the new one is way to expensive for his age and requirements.)

What are the differences between an Xbox S and an E ?  Or an Elite or Core console  - which seem to be white not black ?!

thanks

The E is the one that has had its case redesigned to look more like the Xbox One and lacks a couple of connectors but has an HDMI port so I wouldn't worry but would recommend getting the biggest hard drive you can afford.
