Title: 3g router
Post by: Glenn on Apr 20, 2013, 10:26:58
Are there any cheapish portable 3G routers that a 3G USB dongle can be plugged into? I already have a Huawei 3131 unlocked dongle, just want to be able to use it for a 'hotspot'.

I've been looking myself and found this http://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-TL-MR3020-Portable-Wireless-Router/dp/B00634PLTW looks like it maybe ok.

I'd guess they're much of a muchness, but the Asus one perhaps looks a little more 'pocketable'.

Check that they will support the 3g dongle you intend to use with it. Some of them can be a bit iffy with some dongles.
Looking at the Tp Link site, that one seems to have good dongle compatibility. It also seems to have an ability to add additional modem support without a complete firmware upgrade.
