Title: Microsoft tells Windows 7 users to uninstall patch, after some PCs fail to start
Post by: Clive on Apr 12, 2013, 22:38:50
Microsoft has advised all users of Windows 7 (and the server version, Windows Server 2008) who installed a security update on Tuesday to uninstall it, after some customers found their computers would not restart or applications would not load.

Just noticed today another patch available: KB2840149

Is this the replacement?  Has anyone risked it yet?

Not me.  I always wait until the night before "Patch Tuesday" to increase my chances of getting good updates.

Did MS explain how to start a computer that would not start because of this patch? :eek4:  "Excuse my Mr. Microsoft, my computer won't start after I installed your latest patch?"  Mr Microsoft replies, "OK just re-start your computer and remove the patch"  But Mr Microsoft my computer won't start because of the patch"  Mr Microsoft replies, "Just restart your computer so you can uninstall the patch"  Ad infinitum..... :o
