Title: Nokia C3-1 fault
Post by: Den on Feb 23, 2013, 19:56:03
I have a Nokia C3-1 as my main phone but today the touch screen stopped responding so I have had to swap across to my Galaxy Y which I do not like as the screen is to small for texting.
I will either go into carphone warhouse tomorrow or buy from ebay. Any thought on the Apple iPhone 4 or the Sony range? I want a phone mainly for calls although I will set it up for the net and emails.

I've got the iPhone 4S, Obviously it's more than just a phone many apps and accessories, the main thing for me though is the build quality,it's very robust.

I have the same as Steve, and would concur.  Not had any experience of the new range of Sonys.

The newer Sony's are up with the best of Android handsets now although they don't yet run 4.2.2 which is coming in March. Still cant go wrong with a Galaxy S III though. The 4S is robust till the glass breaks on the back but mine survived but it was in a case, and the screen is way to small now. Even the 4" iPhone 5 feels small after playing around yesterday with some newer 5" screen handsets I wish Apple would make one that size. The Xperia Z is really beautiful but has a glass back like the 4S but the water resistance and dust proofing is useful.

I didn't know that the iPhone had a glass back, is that why everyone has them in a case? I liked the Nokia C3-1 because it was all metal and did not have to keep it in a case (now have damaged screen) and I wonder if the iPhone might be dodgy for work. What is the difference between the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4S?

I didn't realise the 4S has a glass back either!  Have to admit, I'd quite like something a little bigger, but not so that it makes it difficult to operate single handedly.

Essentially the difference between the 4 and the 4S if your buying new is the S has more memory, better camera 5 vs 8mp and a faster processor.

My iPhone is a rugged little thing. It's got a dent on the top left but I've dropped it a lot lately and it's not broken. My sister and cousin both showed me their iPhones last night. Both have only ever been dropped once and my sister's back of the phone is shattered. My cousin's was dropped again only once and there's a large crack under the screen which is almost all the way through to the face, which will split it in half!

One of my colleagues who is an iPhone owner (4s) says its great for apps but not much cop as a phone.

I think perhaps the 'phone' part of many smartphones has become 'secondary', as so many people now use other means of communication, such as SMS, Email, Twitface, etc.  I've had BlackBerry's, SEs, Android devices, iPhones, and none have matched the call and signal quality of my old Nokia 6310i.  The iPhone was certainly an improvement on the BlackBerry's I had, which seemed to drop calls a lot more frequently than any other phone I've used.
