Title: iPad Mini
Post by: Noreen on Feb 15, 2013, 11:13:00
I've just got one of these. :) I wonder if anyone here knows how to transfer music files from a pc to an iPad Mini. I have Googled the question but the answers just confuse me, most seem to involve installing a software program. Is that the answer as I wouldn't know which is the best to get?

You need iTunes, Noreen. This will find all the music files on your PC, which you can then (selectively, if preferred) sync with the iPad.  We can walk you through it if you need help.  :)

As Simon as said.

I'll be brief Noreen , iTunes is the usual program to copy and sync music to the iPad .The music must be imported to your iTunes library either from a pre existing music file or via CD import. There are other third party applications which I've not used.

iTunes match is a cloud based subscription service which stores local iTunes libraries and allows importing of music via the internet to a device such as an ipad

But, it's not compulsory to use it for the basic purpose of copying your music to your iPad, which can be done direct from your own PC, so don't worry, you don't have to have a subscription to use iTunes.  :)

Where's your music kept? ie a music folder on your computer or CD

Have you connected your iPad to the computer via the USB lead?  That should get the device synced with iTunes (you may have to open an Apple user account).  Is the music you want on the iPad already on your computer, Noreen?

One thing that puzzles me is why does iTunes only recognise some of the albums that I have on my pc, they are all in the same folder.

Depends what format the files are, Noreen.  It will, for example, recognise MP3 or WAV files, but not FLAC, and I'm not sure about WMA.

Or is it that the Albums are unknown to the iTunes store database ie some the UK collections of various artists albums
