I assume you are trying to access you emails direct in Windows 8 rather then use a program such as Outlook. Windows 8 will not let you use POP3 but any of the email programs can be used and will still accept them. Hope this helps.

Just found this if it helps............

WINDOWS 8 MAIL APP DOES SUPPORT POP

I think some folks may have not updated their Windows modern UI Mail app - because POP is supported along with IMAP and ActiveSync. Go to the store, updates and make sure you have the latest versions. Then go to the mail app, settings charm, accounts, add, other account, then choose POP.

POP was not an option in the earlier releases.

See one of the replies to this info...........  http://www.pcworld.com/article/2023005/answer-line-how-do-i-get-pop-email-in-windows-8.html (http://www.pcworld.com/article/2023005/answer-line-how-do-i-get-pop-email-in-windows-8.html)

Actually, that is the only mention of it that I can find, the general concensus seems to be that it doesn't support pop3.....sorry for the mis-leading info....
