An alert writer over at the The Register has spotted a funny thing.
Microsoft just released a free tool to stop you upgrading to Internet Explorer 10 on Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2:
http://nakedsecurity.sophos.com/2013/02/01/ie-10-is-more-secure-prevent-update/?utm_source=Naked+Security+-+Sophos+List&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=ed6fdb4bdf-naked%252Bsecurity
This is quite normal to allow corporate system administrators time to test it against in house applications before it gets it rolled out via Software Update Services (a version of Windows Update running on a server inside a corporate firewall)
Yep. Just imagine if IE10 changes the location of a button on a webpage and your million pound a day till system relies on IE9 to put the button on the screen. If you upgrade "automatically" you'll not have any staff clicking "buy" for a while.
I haven't used IE for well over a decade so I will definitely not be downloading it. For many years I was a huge fan of Avant but around 2 years ago it went a little bit crazy and I had to switch to Chrome which I quite like. I understand there may be one or two luddites on this forum who still put their faith in Firefox. We know who you are... :bye:
That's it, make trouble! :worm:
:whome: Never never! Not me Simon. Why, do you use Firefox? Just a lucky guess... :out:
No, I use Sea Monkey. :nana: ;D
I use Firefox cos I like it!
I've used IE since the beginning and have never had any problems and it runs fast enough for me so I won't cahnge to any other browser although I have tried them all over the years.

You kept that very quiet. What exactly is it? :dunno:
Thunderbird & Firefox combined basically I believe.
Indeed, and without the Firefox memory hogging.

I use IE10 and love it, sometimes I will use Firefox and it seems very good but I keep going back to IE10 8-)
What does IE stand for?
Intelligent evolution something that people stuck with anything before Windows 7 will not understand. >:D
How long did it take you to think of that one, Den? :)x

Ah, Mrs Clive used that combination for years until she became fed up with the memory hogging. She's now very happy with Chrome and won't go back to Firefox. She still uses Thunderbird for e-mail though although she doesn't particularly like it. When I dumped my XP PC for a Win 7 laptop in December I opted for Windows Livemail but neither T/Bird nor L/mail can hold a candle to our beloved Outlook Express. :bawl:
I like Chrome, I am just not prepared to allow Google to store details of every web page I visit.
I work on the assumption that the secret services have unfettered access to the data and I certainly don't trust our Government.
You make a very persuasive point against Google Kinmel. But I'm generally a bit of a goody two-shoes in my surfing habits so the Government and MI5 would be disappointed.

What...? Sheep pron doesn't count! >:D
:sheeplove: :)x
:lmao: My Adult sheep finder website isn't as good as it used to be. :red:
I'm sure Den has a recommendation or two!!
Our friends keep around a dozen sheep in the field behind their house and each year they breed lambs which they name. Unsurprisingly, whenever we go there for dinner there is usually lamb on the menu and we are informed that we are eating Flossy's hind leg. I'm not quite sure how they can be so attached to them and then slaughter them for the oven. :)x
They're probably joking and "Flossy" came from Tescos. ;D
That would have been Silver or Black Beauty. ;)
;D
:rofl3:
Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa :o
