Title: LLU DSL Down in Hitchin since 04:10
Post by: jezuk1 on Jan 02, 2013, 11:50:20
Hi all,

I already spoke to a helpful Brian in support, he's looking into it at the moment. Just posting here in case anybody else is suffering from the same problem.

My LLU DSL appeared to lose sync at 04:10 this morning and it has been down since. No synchronisation. The voice part of the line is fine.

Hopefully can be resolved soon :-)

Disregard all this... it appears it was something wrong with my Billion 7800N's DSL modem. Restarting the router fixed the problem. Seems like an obvious fix, but this router has been so reliable for the past year or two, this is the first time I've had to take the drastic action of actually powering it off. How embarrassing! As Brian pointed out it may be the start of hardware failure in the router, I'll keep an eye on it.

Saw a small improvement in speed after the resync, and interestingly enough a really big drop in line attenuation especially on the upstream channel. It's almost as if the line has physically improved itself since the last sync.

Lucky to have a very happy and noise stable line:

I do occasionally reboot my modem and router it doesn't seem to do any harm, like today I had a small reduction in latency
