Title: Anti Virus on Android tablet
Post by: Simon on Nov 23, 2012, 19:35:14
As above, is it necessary?  These friends of mine who I was asking about the Homeplugs for have bought Samsung Galaxy tablets for each of their children for Christmas.  Part of the deal they got was a free year of Norton.  Is it worth installing?

I'd say so as no platform is virus proof and as android is now a popular platform I suspect there are some individuals cooking up nefarious apps now.

There is a lot of malware out there for Android devices Security firm F-Secure's latest mobile threat report (for Q3) reports "a whopping 51,447 unique samples" detected in the third quarter, up from 5,033 in Q2 and 3,063 in Q1. Lookout is one of the better ones, it was tested with the well known vendors and came out ahead of the pack.
