Title: Samsung Kies Trashes Synctoy
Post by: davej99 on Oct 20, 2012, 11:01:47
Recently loaded Samsung Kies phone sync software onto a Vista PC and found that it trashes MS Synctoy.

This can be fixed in "Programs and Features" by reparing 'Microsoft Sync Framework 2.0 Core Components(x86)ENU' and 'Microsoft Sync Framework 2.0 Provider Services(x86)ENU,' which Synctoy uses.

See http://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Contribute-Innovation-Promotion/Samsung-Kies-killS-syncToy/td-p/2998765 (http://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Contribute-Innovation-Promotion/Samsung-Kies-killS-syncToy/td-p/2998765).

It seems Kies is a bit unreliable.

Have used MS Synctoy for several  years. I use it as a mirror of the folders I want to BU . Very simple and reliable.

Update on untrashing Synctoy. If 'Microsoft Sync Framework 2.0 Core Components(x86)ENU' and 'Microsoft Sync Framework 2.0 Provider Services(x86)ENU' will not repair because original install cannot be found, then uninstall both and re-run the Synctoy install. This re-installs said components and maintains Synctoy settings.
