Title: Digging up the ground for ASDL2+?
Post by: Technical Ben on Oct 15, 2012, 17:53:54
So, BT might be fitting ASDL2+ in the exchange this month. They started digging up the road though. Do they need new connections at the exchange for this? I thought it was just a new box in the exchange, never realized it might need new cables to the main connections.

Sounds like a coincidence, Ben, the cabling doesn't change until you move to FTTC.

Could be laying new cables to increase capacity maybe?

That's what I'd guess. Saying that 2 houses went up in someones garden. They'd not wire them in from the exchange though would they?
It would explain all the delays, if they did not have capacity at the exchange for ASDL2+... but then again I don't know if the exchange just uses the old cables it's self to talk to BT on ASDL2+. :P

I think they can wire direct if there is no room left on the cabinets.
