Title: Preferred Browser?
Post by: Broadback on Sep 18, 2012, 09:21:28
I have been having problems with Firefox for some time it seems unstable, though I have to accept that it may be my machine. However I have now done a completely clean reload, hopefully that will fix it. If not what are others preferred browser? Here I must declare that I am no fan of IE.

I'm happy using Chrome, I know some will say Google are evil and they are watching everything it does etc, but it's a fast browser.

I can't get on with Opera, I'd rather use IE if I can't Firefox. Safari is OK but can be quirky.

Not had chance to try it just yet but there is a 64-bit optimised version of Firefox called Waterfox.

My machine is a poor 32 bit, not the strength of a 64 bit.  :'(

I'll probably go over to Opera eventually. It's got less eyes watching it like Chrome, and seems about the same as Firefox, but it does not get the constant changes. :P

Well Firefox refused to run again on switch on, so I have swapped to Chrome. Seems fine, though early days yet. However there is one problem that I will not be able to stick for long, I keep getting adverts popping up, how can I stop this?

I thought I was have problems with IE9 so I tried Chrome and Firefox. I settled on Firefox for a few weeks untill I started to have a few problems and also I could not open a secure site for my alarm monitoring so I swapped back to IE9 (64) and find it runs so smooth after Firefox.   :slap:

Well my plot thickened. I was unable yet again to load FF or even IE, though the mail program still worked fine. In the end I had to go back to "factory" condition and rebuild everything. This time I decided to dispense completely with FF, up to press all is fine. My son in law dropped in yesterday who is very computer aware, he recently bought a big all singing machine. After setting it all up he too started to get problems, did all he could think of to get rid of them. In the end he asked himself what was the last thing he did before having problems. Yes he had put FF onto his machine. He removed it and had no trouble since, sad, I did love my FF. Now I will have steep learning curve with Chrome. where is the best place to glean hints and tips for it?

Sorry to hear that Broadback, sounds rather strange. At least you got it fixed. I recently gave up trying to get a virus/maleware/whatever off a friends PC and said "We will reset the whole thing!" too. :P I'm just waiting for them to click or install a program that messes it up again, but I'm sure they not really that bad.

PS Glenn. I tend to just install a program, press some buttons, ask "Does it work?" then carry on. Who needs instructions?

Me, I do, I watch loads of videos and read the articles. But I still dive in the deep end first off.
