Anyone having issues getting to sites other than idnetters? :-\ Most odd but I can only seem to load this site all of a sudden. Could be a DNS issue, I'm about to go out so maybe all will be better when I return.
Yeah, it's not everywhere, but Slashdot is in and out and more annoyingly my connection to work is too. >:(
I can still get Amazon and BBC News here, Gary. :dunno:
I had some others working, then some site stopped, its been a bit hit and miss for maybe 15 mins :dunno:
Same here. Having problems with eBay especially.
yup definately routing issues. They seem to have these sort of problems every few months. Usually at a weekend when they are unreachable as they dont have support at nights or weekends which is a real pain in the arse.
Same problem here with websites plus I can't get email from my non IDNet addresses.
I'm having the same problems with multiple sites.
Some problems here, especially it seems American sites, taking a long time to load.
Some sites OKish, if slow. Others just won"t finish loading. Also non-idnet mail not working.
Was usinf open dns servers and been having problems for past hour or so, switched to idnet servers and everything now ok.
Just failed on smtp.idnet.com? Anyway I have emailed support regarding this issue, hopefully we'll get a response shortly. Thanks Alf, mine is currently better on IDNet DNS but the forum just took 4.5 secs to load a page. Neither Zen nor AAISP are reporting any routing issues ie LINX at present.
its not a DNS issue its a routing issue. They seem a regular occurance with IDNET.
Yeah, I run a local DNS and I'm having random issues. I also think a peering/routing issue. Almost certainly not IDNet's fault, but hopefully they will disable the peered network if it carries on and route the traffic elsewhere.
agree, i noticed my router got a non-idnet IP address assigned during a reboot. so definately something up. Their service status page is a fail though.
Many websites are not loading for me, and their traces usually end like:
1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms router [10.6.7.10]
2 10 ms 10 ms 10 ms telehouse-gw4-lo1.idnet.net [212.69.63.98]
3 11 ms 11 ms 11 ms telehouse-gw6-gi3-401.idnet.net [212.69.63.182]
4 43 ms 16 ms 11 ms v225.core1.lon1.he.net [216.66.86.45]
5 * * * Request timed out.
6 * * * Request timed out.
nothing seems to be getting past v225.core1.lon1.he.net currently, at least 4 sites (and counting) have all had their trace die there.
Some sites and services started resolving for me, fell over and then came back again. However I'm still having issues with battle.net services for example, which may or may not be related.
Some people here report things like Steam aren't working, and I can't update my IDE which is rather annoying. IRC is working just fine, oddly enough. Connections do come and go though, so I suspect a peered routing is either conflicting or just being stupid.
which sites you having trouble with? most seem ok here but the forums and IDNet were sluggish this morning for me
I've had failures from netbeans.org, port80a.se.quakenet.org, the Steam content network in general (steampowered.com), the gawker network sites, kickstarter, and a few others which I can't remember. I'll have to go through the logs.
only had fail with port80a site all the others seem ok
:dunno:
I'm one of many trying to connect to Guild Wars 2, and yes they are having problems with their log in servers. However I think this issue is affecting me trying to connect too. For instance trying to hit their Authentication server IP:

Still can't get some American sites working. Having issues with ITunes and app store on iPhone. Using Norton DNS at a friends who is on idnet.
Yeah netbeans.org is up and down all the time. I managed to get it updated after about 30-40 tries. Ditto for GW2:

having issues as well. Opendns. Problems with facebook, itunes store, google.
I'm having issues with websites loading too. Ebay will not load photographs, and my son is having problems with Digital Spy. I thought IDNet had introduced out of hours staff these days?? Could have read it wrong, though!
And now Hotmail, too! Won't load at all.
Cant load Apple web site, other sites slow or wont load still :( Baz is on LLU I think, I wonder if that makes a difference at all. My IDNet rss feed won't load either.

Don't worry, it just says "IDNet are currently experiencing no problems"
It seems to be working again at the moment.

I am on LLU Gary, I keep forgetting about that it may be different, good point

Infinity Developments Ltd = IDNet.
Had an ever so slight hickup, but put it down to a slow boot from hibernation (takes a second to kick the network into gear?). Seems fine now.
Just looked on Think Broadband, other people are having similar problems, so its not just IDNet :)

I was not informed of this! I demand some of this recently developed infinity at once.
That said, I saw a mathematical theory that showed there were infinite infinities, so perhaps I'd best steer clear.... ???

I think the only Infinity in the broadband world, is the number of things that can go wrong on a bank holiday weekend!
Tempting fate to say say this but it seems like it's been stable for over an hour now. Good job 'cause I'm on time and a half working from home today  and that's the closest I'll get to a raise this year. :shake:

nowt to do with me Esh but yeah what Simon said
All working here, I think my mums on LLU and hers was not as bad as mine, well I got more things done today without network access for a while ;)
I've been seeing problems for about a week. Only little things, but the last 2 days I've seen a lot of pages getting halfway through loading, then stopping. I haven't done any tracerts as I assumed it was my mum downloading on her laptop, but realised later it was up here next to me
The sites I had problems with have been as of Friday at about 6-7pm, Facebook and some random photography sites, UK based shopping sites were all acting sluggish as well. Really odd goings on recently. It didn't really bother me as I was just watching TV and looking at the odd site, but it seems to be okay as of about an hour ago. I noticed while I was watching the football that the webpages are loading smoothly now, and fast, whereas it's been almost 56k like at times previously.

IDnet seem to have started using that name on billing, etc a few months ago. I always had IDnet on bills, etc. Suddenly it changed to that name. Although, I noticed on my bank statement that it has changed back to IDnet this month. I really have no idea what they're doing, but it does seem to be the case that things are changing behind the scenes. Name changes, people leaving. I'm trying to avoid making paranoid assumptions ;)
I think Infinity Developments Ltd has always been the full name of the company. I do believe they have other strings to thier bow, so to speak, so perhaps IDNet is just the name for the broadband side of things? :dunno:
Oh, and i don't think too much should be read into the staff changes. It's quite common that when one member of staff leaves a company for whatever reason, another follows. Doesn't mean there's anything sinister going on.
http://companycheck.co.uk/company/03105579 Just a quick search shows that, loads of others show it goes back to 1996 ish
Have had no problems throughout today (Sunday 26th) with any sites using either IdNet's or Google public DNS on different computers; nor with e-mail and the RSS feeds. Is it related to a particular BTw PoP - I'm connected to Stepney Green which has been behaving well for the last couple of months!
The traces indicate a failure within Hurricane Electric's network, they are not a small concern so I suspect they are onto it
You can try running a tracert back to your IP from their looking glass http://lg.he.net/
Just to up date you; it appears this issue was caused by a problem within Hurricane Electric, an Internet backbone and colocation provider. Nobody seems to know the exact nature of the problem but it appears to have had consequences for Internet users all over Europe. Hopefully the problem is now resolved.

Is this the cause?
It's certainly possible Lance [EDIT] Ben although I'm not sure that it fully explains the intermittent nature of the fault.
That was Ben. ;)
That was my bloody iPhone

Not unless the fault travelled back in time a whole day - or they got the date wrong  It was fine on the 27th (yesterday), it as Sunday (the 26th) it was all mammaries vertical.
