Title: Kindle wireless connection lost
Post by: Broadback on Aug 17, 2012, 11:53:57
Just disappeared. Tried setting up as per Kimble's set up guide. WPA2-PSK is not an option, only WPA-PSK, also I get no request for a password. It seemed to be OK when I looked anyway, but I have tried resetting the Wireles bit. If replying please put it in 1 syllable words, appropriate for a numpty.

If it used to work ok and you've changed nothing on the Kindle I would reboot your router if you've not already done so.

No I have not reset it. I assume you mean pressing the recessed button at the back. If I do does that mean I need to set the router up again? If so I will need to save the setup information before doing so. I also thought next time I am out and about I could try to connect the Kindle on one of the free Wi-Fi sites, then I will know where the fault lies.

I just simply meant a router power off and on again definitely not a router reset. You can also reboot a Kindle - depending on the model the method varies.

Yes I did that. However I am becoming suspicious of my Kindle, as it is requiring battery recharge after less that 24hours.

Took the Kindle into the local town this morning, no WiFi found there. Borrowed a notebook and brought that home, it connects fine to my 2700.Looks like I need a second Kindle replacement!

I've just had to exchange one after a year with a cracked screen, it's ok I've now got a newer model. Please forgive the next question but is the wifi on the Kindle turned on?

It is, under the auspices of Kindle I have now got it to recognise my router, however it now need a password, which it never has before, so I will have to find out what that is!

Gone into the wireless setup as per instructions. The suggested option of I don't seem to have the option of WPA2-PSK only WAP-PSK, and there is not password request!

I don't get any choice of security options on my Kindle just a password request. Router security is set as WPA/WPA2-PSK.
