Title: Apple looking at Twitter
Post by: Glenn on Jul 28, 2012, 08:23:54
QuoteApple, which has stumbled in its efforts to get into social media, has talked with Twitter in recent months about making a strategic investment in it, according to people briefed on the matter.

While Apple has been hugely successful in selling phones and tablets, it has little traction in social networking, which has become a major engine of activity on the Web and on mobile devices. Social media are increasingly influencing how people spend their time and money — an important consideration for Apple, which also sells applications, games, music and movies.

These companies remind me of people you see who buy things in the shops. "Oh, so-and-so has one of these and thinks it's great!!!" But when they get home they have no idea how to work it and break it in 5 mins.

If you keep failing with the knowledge, get better knowledge. Throwing money at it is not usually the way to get it to work. Oh, paying someone else with the knowledge helps, but usually these companies buy the product (website etc) then try and put their own bone heads into operating it.

Doubt it, but given the amount of money Apple has in the bank you never know......   My guess is this was leaked by Twitter in an attempt to drive up the share price.

It has more money than it knows what to do with, maybe it could bail out the eurozone  ;D

Tim Cook indicated he wanted to start paying dividends which Jobs was always against.
