Title: Avast Sandbox issue
Post by: netn00b on Jul 26, 2012, 07:57:40
for some reason a program called iPodService.exe is in the avast sandbox.

and its being analysed every single time i turn on the pc :(

and it is analysed for as long as the pc is turned on.

the Terminate now button does nothing :(

i've been into Avast and i've disabled the sandbox and yet it still happens- its taking up part of the screen now and i've had to make this window not fit full screen just to be able to click post

i've no idea what the programe does - obviously it looks like something to do with an iPod - but i dont have one  ???

i cant actually even find a way to exit or turn off Avast.

:(

Removal and reinstall of iTunes?

The iPodservice process along with the AppleMobileDevice process checks for the attachment of iPods/iPhones/iPads etc and loads iTunes when they are connected and allows it to communicate with them.

If you or others don't use such devices with your system you can uninstall mobile device support via Control Panel > Uninstall a Program/Programs and Features (or Add/Remove Programs in XP) and can disable the iPodService via Start > Run (Start > All Programs > Accessories > Run in Vista/7)

Type msconfig and click OK and untick it in Services.

Ituneshelper allows other applications to do things such as import audio files into iTunes and can be disabled from the Startup tab.

Edit: Itunes gets upset if you remove the Application support it would seem.

Hate to ask the bleeding obvious, but if you don't have an iPod, do you need iTunes for another device?
