I've just learned that I still have two domain names registered to me that I'd completely forgotten about. One of them expires today (not an issue), and it was the reminder from nominet that alerted me to it. However, I have no idea who I used to register the domains with, and whois tells me nothing. I'd quite like to park the remaining name on top of another I'm using, but without knowing where I registered it I'm a bit stuck for setting the nameservers.
Anyone know how I can find out?
Have you tried here http://www.internic.net/whois.html . probably still uses whois though, but it found mine

If you haven't changed the DNS or domain forwarding then a tracert might well show where they are parked?
InterNIC can't find it :(
Traceroute finds a target, but a whois in on that tells me nothing. Odd, since the address goes nowhere right now (I must have set the nameservers up for my old hosting, which is long since cancelled)
It's not the end of the world, it will expire in Sept anyway.
Odd really.
I manage about a dozen domain names and the companies that I obtained them from are always keen to remind me to keep my contact/payment details up to date so they can renew as required.
Sorry not to be of more help.
What's even stranger is that they are only just expiring. Even assuming a two year subscription, that would mean that I renewed them whilst I was living in Turkey, though I most certainly didn't, and the card originally used to register them had been cancelled by then anyway. Chalk it up to one of life's little mysteries.
Nominet sent me a letter a few months ago telling me my domain was about to expire. Odd really considering it was cancelled about 5 years ago. I don't think nominet are are fool proof as we might like to think!
