Title: wtf 10mb/s on ADSL??

my line is continuing to act weird how the hell im i getting 10mb/s on ADSL thats supposed to get only 8mb/s max??

Operational Mode   G.DMT
Upstream   832
Downstream   7104
SNR Margin(Upstream)   8.0
SNR Margin(Downstream)   12.7
Line Attenuation(Upstream)   11.0
Line Attenuation(Downstream)   16.0

If those are your current router stats, you can't get higher throughput than your downstream sync, the usual cause of this disparity is AV software , try temporarily disabling and test again.

Is it that the AV software temporarily scans the download file, then after gives it (in one big chunk and quickly) to the download speed checker? So as the virus scanner interrupts the file download, it confuses it.

That's as I understand why it can cause a higher result. Although in my experience (several years ago) the difference between real and fictitious was much greater.

thxs that appears to be it only 5.85 now with av off also idnet's rating has gone down
