Title: Complete loss of service
Post by: cwmusson on Jun 01, 2012, 19:57:45
No dial tone plus internet browsing just brings up a "BT Wholesale Service Information" page.
Clearly a BT fault on Foxhall Ipswich exchange.

Please can someone remind me how to contact IDnet support on a Friday just before a bank holiday.

Thanks

Chris

The internet has started working again, but still no dial tone.  I guess the fault must be known about and being fixed.  Will wait a while before contacting support.

Thanks

Chris

Chris, is your phone with IDNet? You can call the Out of hours service, they don't seem to do much, but it maybe worth a try, just use the normal number 01462 659350 or 0800 331 7000 and report the phone problem.

Thanks.  Yes my phone is with idnet.  As the fault is ongoing, but fixing it isn't too urgent for me, I've sent an email to support.

Thanks

Chris

Phone still not working after 4 days. No dial tone. No response from idnet support email.

However not too bothered so far as was away for jubilee.  Hoping for faster response tomorrow.

Unless you pay for enhanced care, there would be nothing they could do anyway, BT were closed.

Miriam is on the case. BT exchange fault. I'm confident it will be fixed as soon as possible now.

She's had engineers out to me within a couple of hours before now.  :)

Moved house on the 30th and had phone & broadband activated on the 31st, but it was immediately a line fault. (Why didn't BT check the line when they activated it at the external NTE?) :eyebrow:

Was told by IDNet they'd get Openreach around within 24-48 hours but unfortunately heard nothing and it's been 8-9 days now. Absolutely disappointed with how this turned out, despite pre-ordering this package two weeks in advance before moving to ensure there would be no downtime. Not sure what else to do other than pester IDNet Support about it, which we've done four times now. ??? My mobile broadband quota is starting to run out too.

Ring, and if it's not him who answers, ask for him.  :)

He has a bulldog grip when it comes to BT, I've heard him laying into them.

Openreach came round today, apparently the external nte wasn't physically connected to the cabinet, which the openreach guy thought was odd. But all up and running now :)

Got phone service back 7 days after it failed. An "exchange fault" apparently.

Why are "Exchange Faults" not detected automatically?

Worked fine for a few days. Internet now failed. Got an internal BT IP address.

BTCare Twitter gets really sniffy when you moan about being off for 6 days due to BT fault.
