Firefox has been sluggish for a few days now. Sometimes it will only load part of a page, other times it will just take ages to load. Thunderbird joins in every so often too. I upgraded to 12.0 whilst uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox, I've tried safe mode but neither work. Any thoughts? I'm stuck and I can't find anyone else with exactly the same problem so far. To add to the thrills, the drop down menu for the address bar has given up. Deep joy. I do love Linux really... :dunno:
I have by the way, asked support about my internet connection and it's 'rock solid'.
What version are you running 11 or 12?
12. But it was behaving like this on whichever version it was before that. (11.xx I guess.)
Completely uninstall and reinstall it.
I think that has been tried Mitch.
I think the first thing to do is check your system for a virus. If your system is clean I'd also temporarily stop any security software (firewall, anti-virus etc) you have running and see if that fixes it. If your having the same symptoms with two browsers I think you can rule out an issue with the browsers.

It's not Windows, you know...
Indeed. I'm on Ubuntu 11.04. :) And the other thing is though I do have those, they are no bother at all and never have been. (Anti virus thing is only for emails.)

I was aware of that when I started my reply and then my brain shut down for the night  But it's still worth checking imho, Linux based systems are not totally impervious to infections although I'll admit it's usually servers that get hit.
It's been a while now so I think I need to update folks. What I did was clear all my cookies then install AdBlock. Result, internet that runs at the speed it should for 99% of the time and happiness. Thanks for your suggestions though.
