driving me crazy this, can normally get speeds of 4meg but now in the day for the past week its been 0.4 meg!! Don't know who to speak to about it BT or idnet...
Welcome to the forums :welc: :karma:
It might be worth posting your router stats and conducting a speed test using the BT Speed tester: http://speedtester.bt.com/ If you post the results here someone might be able to shed some light on your problem. The alternative is to call IDNet support as only they will be able to get BT involved if there is an issue with your line.
:welc: :karma: You will need BT speedtests for support to talk to BT.

Thanks for getting back to me guys, in work at the moment so will do the tests tonight :fingers:
Here is the message I've just sent idnet support
I am writing to you about a problem I am having at this time with my broadband speeds over the last 10 days. I have had varying speeds between day and night, some times in the night I have 4627kbps and during 7am – 11pm I have been getting 300kbs!, below is a list of some tests done on speedtest.net

After posting on idnetters I was told to do the BT speedtest and after I connected to the speedtest.domain with my router I got the following results
Download speed achieved during the test was - 345 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 600 Kbps-7.15 Mbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :5.76 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 5 Mbps
Your service was found to be performing poorly. Please raise a fault with your service provider, stating that the BT Performance Tester tool indicates poor service throughput performance after the third test.
here are my router stats:

I was initially thinking congestion at the local exchange but your connection is showing signs of instability, your downstream margin is elevated this is either due to issues your side of the master socket ie failing filters or routers, noise induced by poor quality extensions or ring wire. The other possibility is a line fault.
You need to check your side of the master socket to try and rule out a no fault found engineer visit.
I'm no expert, by any stretch of the imagination, but from what's usually posted on here, your noise margin looks exceptionally high. Is there something that runs nearby, during the day, but switches off at night, that could be affecting your connection?
Or, what Steve put much better. ;D
Thanks for replies. Idnet support have been in touch and said that having found nothing on a line test and it looks like "congestion" at the switch and have been in touch with BT and will get back to me as soon as they hear anything. What does congestion mean? and how will they sort it? cheers
Congestion occurs at the local exchange, usually BT do not have the capacity for the number of users , i.e. they need to upgrade it.
