Just turned my computer and I'm having issues accessing any websites other than this forum.
The router is saying it's connected but I'm just getting timed out messages on every page.
Anyone else having similar issues or know what's up? It was fine last night.
Same here, even my backup DNS (Google/OPEN) are doing the limbo as well. Can only access this site and the IDNET one :dunno:
Yes, exactly the same. I read your post on my Ipad as I thought internet was down completely, but have checked back on my PC and this forum is accessible! Everything else is down, although I could retrieve email from idnet.com address.

+1 looks like idnet has fallen over again
Everything seems to be working fine from my FTTC conection. I'm on the Blackwater exchange, Hampshire, where are you all located?
I'm on the Didcot Exchange in Oxfordshire.
At least I know it's not just me. Just a waiting game again now I guess.
I am in Slough as stated.
I can even pinpoint the time a little. I woke up around 5-30am and my internet radio was working as I listened for 10 mins or so, but went back to sleep and at 0630 the connection had falllen over when I woke again.
same here in north east
:(
Have any of you reported the problem to Support?
I've just got off the phone to 1st line support, so have reported it.

I was just trying to find the support number and times on the site. I did not think anyone would be manning the phones at this time.
Must be local, no problem here in W Wales :)

Good to hear but Oxford and the North East are not really local. :)
Quick question (as my connections fine) are you all LLU as we've a member of staff with an LLU connection and that's down as well.
Good call, Steve, I was just looking there too.

What's LLU and how would I tell if I were on it?
Sorry, I'm not the best with these sort of things.
Early for me, but unless IDNet informed you , you wouldn't know. If the connection was working normally you wouldn't be able to complete a BT speedtest.
I'm guessing but if your exchange is Be* enabled it's a likely possibility I'm seem to recall Baz was switched to LLU but maybe wrong. If you list your exchange I'll look.
Edit: Didcot- has Be* availability.

I was able to do a BT speedtest last time I tired. That was a very long time ago now though.

What I mean is its more likely to be a BT problem than an Idnet one :)
Something is happening.... my Skype just connected and I can now see BBC Sport, albeit it is loading slowly, I think the hamster has woken up from its nap!
correct yes im on LLU Steve good shout :thumb: could be that then.
im starting to get some sites trying to load eg google but takes for ever and even this forum hangs right at the end

cant get the link to work ;D ;D
just been to my account home page and there is a message displayed
IDNet Notification
2012-02-04 07:53:Announcement - LLU broadband customers are currently experiencing a routing problem.
and also the same message on IDNet network status page
True ;D It's says under the Network heading
We have received reports for poor connectivity to numerous web sites from our network. UPDATE: The engineers identified the problem to be with unbalanced traffic to one of our peering providers
status page show sub optimal service
Sub-Optimal Service indicates service performing slower than acceptable or an outage that only affects a limited number of customers

the only way I knew I had been switched was a great improvement in speeds.but you can also check if you log in to your account and look at your package details...I think.
if you can get on to your account that is ;)

Ah that explains why my speed mysteriously doubled recently then.
But yes, sites timing out or loading very slowly here in Northumberland on LLU.
yeah cant get to anything this morning :(
well apparently i am on LLU whatever that is..../sigh
stuff to sort out online at the weekend and no access :slap:
Anyone getting access now, support have been working on the routers and hopefully have fixed the problem?

Seem to be able to access all sites now. Just very, very slowly and a lot of partially loaded sites.
Getting there though :)
no still the same for me
One or two pages are crawling through but mosty everything's still timing out.
i dont get to the timing out stage i just give up.nearly 2mins for amazon to load and then didnt get all the page
Still the same for me; nothing loading beyond the background colours.
What little connection there was seems to have gone again :(
Time for some housework I think. Will give the Mrs a shock :)
Yay looks like we're back in business :thumb:
Just got online here in London
Warren & Tylluan :welc5: :karma: each
Mail exchanges still not working in Scotland:
"451 4.3.5 Server configuration problem"
But web ok.
:welc: :karma: to you both from me as well.

I'm not see any mail issues. Is anyone that had a problem this morning getting the same problem?
A request.Anyone of you who's had an LLU issue happen to have a Thinkbroadband Quality Monitor running? I'd be interested in say Wednesday or Thursday from this last week.

No, all fine here and I was hit with the Telefonica and IDNet problems.
This is going up and down here. Will keep monitoring. First major LLU fault for me.
Are you running a ThinkBroadband BQM, esh? If not, it might be helpful as mine seems to have given about a week's warning of this problem.

My mail exchanges are now back to normal.
Sadly I'm not... I really ought to get around to signing up for one. It's getting better now but we still have up/down periods at the moment. Did the monitor show this as packet loss? Anyone know the specifics of the problem? Is it peering or a router?
Some packet loss, but mainly a massive amount of latency. As far as we know, it was unbalanced loading to one of Telefonica's peering providers. This is live, so will change in time, but shows the latency issue, the outage, a second outage due to an IDNet router and then the line returning to normal.

No mail issues here at all but couldnta access the net so I am on LLU but alls fine now
No, mail is fine here too, and I also missed the router issue by staying in bed. ;D
Mail fine here too, I didn't seem to have been affected by the Idnet router outage either. :)
So you were both in bed, eh? ;D
I think we should all stay there tomorrow...
Great idea...

Update 03/02/2012 17:00 The engineers identified the problem to be with unbalanced traffic to one of our peering providers.
Update 03/02/2012 21:28 The problem has been localized and isolated and its impact on the service quality should now be minimal. The repairs will continue during the night so the issue can be fully resolved.
Looking good here now. Many thanks to Rik and Griff for the info.
I've also finally gotten around to adding a quality monitor for this line, since I lost my previous (internal) monitor when I swapped out the pfSense router over the christmas period.
Thanks for that, Griff.
I lost connection last night and the night before. I was beginning to think it was my router but things are back to normal this morning.
For Steve can go back a bit further for you.Strange I didnt notice any difference on those days just today.
from 27 Jan and 2nd Feb
What is todays like now, Baz
todays is
That is much the same as Rik's
Just to put my tuppence in.
A peering issue with the BE network should have no effect whatsoever on IDNet because traffic is handed off to IDNet from the Telefonica LLU network via a tunneled session unless of course they have peering connections connected to a router that terminates LLU links and then directs traffic onward to wholesale customers where applicable and over its own peering where the customer is with BE although I would have expected to see a slow down in loading if the equipment's OS was being overwhelmed.
Thanks Baz , that's exactly the same as Rik's with evidence of an issue present for some time.

Same thing last night. It's weird as it appears that I have a connection but cannot load any websites. It's not the pc as all pcs are acting the same. I will have to phone Idnet tomorrow.
Phone today, Lona, that's effectively a no connection situation - though if you can get here, it sounds like an external problem.
I thought there was no support at the week-end, Rik.
My connection is fine today. I can't understand why it happens late afternoon and continues into the early hours. Three nights in a row sounds strange to me.
There's support for no connection situations. Given we're not getting lots of complaints, it suggests a local issue at your exchange or node to me.
I phoned the first night and got one of those girls who said she knew of no outage and gave me the usual list of things to do, so I thought it better to wait till Monday when the day staff would be on.
Lost my internet for about an hour this morning, I think it was a local issue (caused by the none appearance of snow) but I could be wrong. Rebooted router and all is well now. ;D
It was obviously sulking because of the lack of snow, Den. ;)
I catch your drift Simon >:D Perhaps it was flaked out waiting for the snowdrop.
Did it freeze the page ? I thought I melt a rat ;D
That's cruel, David. ;)
A spell which failed as Jill didnt show up at my door dressed in .........................

?
Hi,
Sorry to bump this, but I'm having similar problems here again. Everything is very slow, timing out, half-loaded pages etc.
Is it just me? It started this morning.
Edit - forgot to add, this is Bedford :) I have no idea what LLU is, but I'm on the home 8 meg 40/120 bandwidth option if that helps.
Yes, I have the same, it seems sites in the UK , like this and BBC pages work, but not ones hosted abroad, World of Warcraft I cant reach
On Home Pro LLU in Warwickshire and experiencing the same problems. Some sites not loading, others very sluggish.
Yeap, im starting to get time out issues, i can't even pay my idnet bill as the site timing out!? LLU connection.
I'm afraid this has returned for me too. This site loads, The Guardian and BBC loads but nothing else does.
yep same here too North East and on LLU
same as before...oh dear :( :(
IDNet status page shows all ok,has any one called them
I found this from the Status page link, Griff posted
QuotePlease note that you might experience packet loss and slow browsing issue. It has been traced to the network of one of our peering providers. A case with them has been raised. We will update you on the progress. Apologies for the inconvenience caused.
which link Glenn? is that still from the last time . i cant see that or even get to the status page now

Have Idnet got a problem with their DNS servers? I've just had to swap to OpenDNS because I couldn't connect to hardly any websites or download my email from Idnet or my own domain.
seems good now :thumb:
status on IDNet homepage has changed back to Good

Not had chance to check today but I did note that all the staff's BT lines had a loss of routing early this morning just before 6.
I did wonder if that was the problem, Steve, as soon as I switched to Opendns everything started working again. :-\
The issue has just returned for me? Can load this and a couple of news websites, and nothing else.
