Hey All.
I've just got myself a Billion BiPAC 7800N router.
Anyone know where I set the static IP addresses for my internal network ?
If you want the same IP address to be allocated to a particular device via DHCP you set as a fixed host, this can be found using the advanced menu>configuration>Lan>DHCP server>fixed hosts.( at the bottom of the page)
If you want just a static IP just set them on the NIC outside DHCP server range
Thanks Steve.
Basically what I want is this..
Xbox used to be set to 192.168.1.40 on my old router, I want it to be the same on this one.
Same goes for NAS drives, server and printer.
What one would I use for that?
Also I just found this in the PDF.
QuoteStatic ARP
This feature allows you to map the layer-2 MAC (Media Access Control) address that corresponds
to the layer-3 IP address of the device.
If i.e. Xbox the IP address was previously assigned by a reserved DHCP address, you can reserve the same entry by the fixed hosts feature. If you leave the Xbox NIC on DHCP allocation and then set 192.168.1.40 as Xbox + Mac address it should always be allocated that address and the same for your other devices i.e. A couple of my fixed host entries
Mac-Mini 60:33:4b:07:xx:xx 192.168.1.7
iMac 00:25:4b:a7:xx:xx 192.168.1.15
Note they are outside the default DHCP server range of 100-199
I've not got round to understanding what ARP is yet.
Cheers. So many options on this router, going to take a lot of reading to understand it.
