Is the Billion BiPAC 7800N any good for connecting the FTTC modem ?

What is it like in general ?

Seems good on my 40/10 option,IPv6 works if you want it,it's SOHO so many configurable options. WiFi is only 2.5GhZ N but range is good with 3 external Antenna. I think you need to look at the Draytek 2750 and the Fritzbox 7390 as well as both as I understand it give you a VDSL modem/router combination. Any Gigabit router hopefully has the processing power to cope with FTTC (I'd avoid 10/100)
