Title: IPv6 routed subnet
Post by: null0 on Dec 20, 2011, 23:11:35
First post from me. Hello  :)

I run a cisco router on my IDNet FTTC connection and have successfully enabled IPv6 unicast routing on my outside interface. But I was wondering if there is any convention on which v6 range I should have on the inside network? Can i just subnet the /64?

As far as I can tell IDNet allocate the /64 on the public side, but I dont see how i can allocate inside addressing.. To be honest it has been a while since I've done any v6 for cert exams and have no real world experience of it so may be a little rusty :red:

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

Might be ghelpful to refer to the private addressing RFC http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc4862

Well I decided to have a go at subnetting out the /64 for assignment to my external and internal networks, and low and behold it just worked! Shouldn't really be a surprise  ;)

I'll put together a guide some time soon and post it, out of interest is there anybody else here using a cisco device to terminate their IDNet link?
