Title: ppp server connection FAIL
Post by: noggin77 on Nov 01, 2011, 21:24:15
Since about lunchtime our broadband has been down. Router Diagnostics says ethernet ok. Wireless ok. Adsl synchronisation ok. Ppp server connection fail. Isn't this a bt exchange fault? Idnet say they tested the line. No fault found. Dial code 01462 update 9.30pm its just started working again! Must have been a bt exchange fault.

Only thing I've found for that std is a software upgrade occurring early tomorrow

It could have been the router throwing a wobbly too and support testing the line might have kicked it into life.

I got our connection started again last night but only by removing the actual line BT connection lead from the router. But the reconnection speed measured by BT Speedtester was 250kbps!!  This morning I rebooted the router once more and it reconnected at 4000kbps (measured by Think Broadband) which is our normal speed. To me this episode says that the problem was at the BT Exchange.
