Title: How strange
Post by: Niall on Sep 27, 2011, 18:15:21
I bought Win7 64bit ultimate a few weeks ago to build this PC. Well, to upgrade really, so I can use Win7 on this and ultimate on my mums PC. As it turned out I had to "upgrade" through the control panel as it wouldn't install from fresh. Anyway, it wouldn't let me, saying there was an error. I turned my PC on the next day and it's upgraded itself and installed a few updates. Apparently it did work, just Windows didn't think it had

Anyway, today I ran an update and there are two little security updates, nothing important, but oddly there are now 34 language packs to upgrade to, and looking at it, it'll be over 1gb. Not really sure why I'd want every language pack Windows supports. How come you don't get that update with Windows7 64bit Pro?

Now to find a use for bit locker :D

Oh, now I've used the upgrade option, does that free up my licence for the win7 pro again? Not a problem if it doesn't, as I can use Vista on my mums PC and buy win7 upgrade for that.

Usually, the upgrade 'adopts' the licence of the original version, Niall.

When I configured my new laptop on Sunday the first thing it asked me was to select which language I wanted but warned me that once chosen I could not change it afterwards.
