Bob, there is a problem with the spellchecker and the WYSIWYG editor, http://www.idnetters.co.uk/forums/index.php/topic,26601.msg635361.html#msg635361

Umm.... we disabled the WYSIWYG editor, because of this and other problems, so the spell checker should be working now.

Just checked your settings, you had WYSIWYG on, I've reset your profile, all should be OK now.

Thanks Rik but I afraid still no-go,  the window comes up with the heading "about blank".  I'm using IE9,  I'm sure it worked a while ago & I dont think anything has been changed since then :(

Is there a Netters compatibility mode for IE9?  >:D It does look like a specific SMF2 browser issue I see the odd ones with Safari on the Mac but I'm an ethnic minority so have to put up with it.

I've looked at this problem in some depth and found that there are a few issues being caused by a package (modification) we have installed here. The problem is that if we remove the package to fix the IE9/Spell Check issue, the Quick Reply box loses a lot of functionality. A temporary solution for IE9 users is to use the 'Reply' button which takes you to the full editor where the Spell Check does appear to work.

Also for clarity I should point out that the forum currently has no WYSIWYG functionality because we've been forced to disable it. You can still select it which is another bug in the aforementioned package but the saved setting is overridden elsewhere and therefore ineffective.

We are hoping that a fix will be provided by the package author which will sort out a number of issues including those above and some others that were encountered earlier on.
