i have had a rock solid 7.15m IP profile connection sync of 8128 for many months with rare re syncs at the same rate. last Thursday night there were three power cuts locally within a very short time and 5pm Friday noticed no connection. it took 6 attempts to establish a connection and it synced at 6464 but BT speedtest showed IP profile of 250k actual speed 182k. 24 hours later my IP profile remains at 250k actual connection now 172k. the router (BT2100) is not in the master socket at this time but from Rik's help guide i feel a further disconnection at this time may not help my cause ( my son decided to reboot at 1pm today with sync of 6944). my current s/n is 11.9 but before problem moved between 8 and 9
my questions are
1) is it worth contacting support
2) is there anything i can do or am i better of leaving the DLM to do its thing
3) how long will the profile take to recover to my current sync rate

It took me three weeks to get my IP Profile back up to it's original level when I had a problem some months ago :(
Saying that I'm on FTTC and the DLM for it is completely automated so I had little choice but to sit it out.
It might be worth contacting support but my gut feeling is they'll ask you to wait as it's only been 24 hours since the power cuts caused the DLM to take effect.
I'm with Griff, support can do nothing for you till Tuesday in any case, hopefully things will recover before then. You may have to wait a few weeks for a full recovery, as it looks like DLM has raised your target noise margin. Ideally, routers should be run from an uninterruptible power supply to prevent this kind of issue.
thanks for that griff & Rik until then is it best to sit it out or try the master socket. The power out covered quite a bit of the town but seems i was the unlucky one this time.
I'd leave things well alone, provided that the 6464 sync speed is about your normal speed.
i normally sync at 8128 with a target s/n of 6 would a rise in target s/n account for the drop. since BT replaced our underground cable last year there have no noise issues and the quite test seems OK

I'm still waiting for my FTTC line to recover from the exchange problem in the 1st week in June. :(
You lose 5-700k per 3db increase in target NM, so it would account for part of the loss. That's the bit which will take a few weeks of continuous connection with low error count to correct itself.
Except that IP profile should have risen quickly since it's very far removed from the sync value.
i understand that i should leave alone (and poke finger at no 2 son to do same) and full recovery may take weeks but is there a guide as to how long for the profile to recover to the 6M indicated by the 6944 sync or will it need a throw of double 6.
In theory unless it's stuck(IP profile) or your having repeated reysncs it should rise very quickly ( a few hours), as it reaches nearer the sync value the rate of rise slows dramatically. There's not a lot you can do until Tuesday unless your having repeated resyncs.
could the number of re syncs on Thursday night has caused the DLM to think i have an unstable line or does this mean i have a stuck profile the only re sync since Friday 5.30 pm is the manual one at 1pm today (no2 son would not listen) and things are stable if very very slow

thanks for the link Steve it seems to fit the stuck IP profile as the line is a good quality one and re syncs do not happen very often normally. kitz suggests switching off overnight do you recommend this or leave alone and see if time resolves it before Tuesday.
To be honest I'm not sure which is the best route but can't see turning it off overnight is going to do any more harm.

just an update to help anyone else with a similar problem. overnight disconnect had no effect but today at 5.30 pm (exactly 3 days after finally connecting) DLM seems to have done its thing and up to IP profile of 6M. As my target s/n seems to have been raised during the initial problem giving a sync of 7008 rather than the usual 8128, can i assume that 14 days with a stable low error connection will see my normal sync and resultant profile return as per Rik's earlier advice. the overnight disconnect did not seem to affect the three day count for or against. thank you to all for your earlier advice.
Hopefully, DLM will now sort the rest out. If it doesn't, give support a ring and they will kick the tyres.
