Title: At the end of the 12 month contract?
Post by: .Griff. on Jun 20, 2011, 19:30:14
Someone just asked me what happens at the end of the FTTC 12 months contracts and to be honest I wasn't entirely sure of the answer myself.

Does it simply revert to a rolling 1 month contract or do you commit yourself for another 12 months?

I've always assumed it reverted to the rolling one  month, but now you mention it, it would be good to see it in print...

Presumably the investment will have been recovered so no reason why it shouldn't revert to monthly.

I'd always assumed it reverts to monthly after the year as the website refers to a minimum 12 month contract.

Quote from: Rik on Jun 21, 2011, 10:03:00the website refers to a minimum 12 month contract.

Agreed, but that doesn't exclude the possibility that the next increment is 24 months... I'd like to see something definitive from Simon_Idnet, either here or on the website.

Confirmed with support, it's a 1 month rolling contract after the first year.

Another related point which may be coming up in the not too distant future- if someone is using FTTC with another ISP and migrates in to IDNet, does the usual MAC procedure still apply, and what happens to the setup fee and minimum contract length?

Depending on the answers, might be worth IDNet putting it on the main site.

Naah, it's not that urgent :P

Hopefully Simon/Tim/Mirriam will pick the thread up at some point.

I've done the deed. MACs will be available and will mean that there is no activation fee but a new 12-month contract will result, at the end of which it will revert to a 1-month rolling contract.

Cheers Rik.

12 month contract seems a bit odd, but I suppose there's a good (probably BT-based) reason for it.
