I have just received the attached email to my Gmail account. I've looked at the original raw message and the headers seem to check out as do the http links in the message.
It arrived just minutes after I submitted a review on a piece of networking equipment that I purchased from them a month or so ago.
Has anyone else received anything similar? I've had a Google and most Amazon spoof emails seem to refer to a person changing their email address which I have not done.

I haven't had one, JB, but the very fact they tell you to ignore it if it's not applicable makes me think it's genuine. That said, I'd check with their help desk.
AFAIK most of the "verify your email account" options can be activated from the control panel to websites.
So, just go to Amazon control panel/user settings, and request/verify your email address from there. :thumb:
Personally I never click on e-mail links these days (although if you hover over the link most mail clients will tell you the actual URL)
I have been to the 'my account' pages on Amazon and checked all my email settings etc...
The links in the email do seem to point to Amazon, so on the surface it seems genuine enough. The only thing that concerned me was why after having an Amazon account for many years, this email arrives, unasked for, after writing a review on one of my purchases. I have even looked at the email in raw mode with no HTML and the links seem fine.
Funny old thing.
Some sites are IP checking with services. So if you try logging in and have a refreshed ip (Or a windows is playing funny games, like with me) it might ask to verify your pc/email etc.

Usual access from my home fixed IDNet IP. Off to my place in Spain tomorrow for 7 weeks so it might be interesting to see if anything else arrives. Telefonica in Spain use dynamic IP's but the router there has had the same IP since 1st June when I last rebooted it remotely.

I had my first dodgy Sony email sent to the old address i used for it, considering that's unused and a new one set up for the ps3 only s in use it was pretty obvious...
I've just made a comment to a review on Amazon UK and got a message that they wish to verify my e-mail account and have sent me an e-mail to confirm it. The e-mail I received was similar to the one received by JB in their original post.
