Title: When?
Post by: psp83 on Jun 10, 2011, 21:29:37
So we are due to have FTTC here in September.. The box down the road from me got replaced yesterday with a new green box that is bigger than the old style boxes.

Does that mean I still have to wait to September still or is it ready now?

The VDSL cabinets don't actually replace the existing cabinets rather they are installed alongside them.

If your cabinet has been replaced then it suggests something else.

This one has been replaced and is about 3 to 4 times bigger than the one it replaced ???

Plus there's been a lot of BT van's & lorry's putting cable into the ground.

Check on the customer portal, Paul, that will tell you if it's available for your line.

Just to confirm my last post.. Today I have witnessed them removing an old green box and replacing it with the bigger green boxes for fibre.. They then put the old box contents back into the newer box with plenty of room left.

Do you think they are doing this to get around planning permission in some areas?

Hmmm. Sounds like "cloud" computing. Same internals, different sticker...
